Adelaide's Place has been helping homeless and disenfranchised women throughout the Atlantic City area for over 15 years, evolving from a simple day program in a church basement. We provide a secure environment for women who have nowhere to go during the day. Our participants engage in social interactions and programs which include arts and crafts, are provided with life skill enhancements, a reading room, a nutritious snack and nutrition classes. All are treated with the dignity and respect which they are entitled to as children of God. Our goal is to provide them with supportive services to improve their quality of life.
Adelaide's Place offers a welcoming sanctuary, but with many opportunities such as access to social workers, linkages to health care, services to locate temporary or permanent housing, and much more. Sr. Patty and the team of Volunteers not only help the many women who walk through the door, but also families in the neighborhood who need an occasional hand. This need continues to grow and Adelaide's Place continues to work each day to make people's lives better.

DHM continue to support and serve as active board members for the following schools founded by the Society:
St. Joseph School for the Deaf
1000 Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx, New York
Saint Joseph’s School for the Deaf was founded in 1869 in the Fordham section of the Bronx, New York. A second branch opened in Brooklyn in 1874, with a third opened in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx known as Oakland Cottage in 1876. By 1913, the increase in population of deaf children resulted in the opening of our present building. Since then, the handsome red brick building has been an impressive landmark in the Bronx.
St. Joseph's School for the Deaf will maximize the potential of each student and foster competence in literacy, critical thought, citizenship and personal independence through educational experiences that are purposeful, equitable and engaging.
