Becoming a Daughter of the Heart of Mary
Formation takes place within the local community, during which the candidate continues in her profession and lives in her own residence.
As an Aspirant she is introduced to religious life in general and specifically to the charism and life of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary.
As a Postulant, she continues to discern her call as she grows in her prayer and spiritual life, creating a rhythm of prayer, work and relaxation in her daily living. She also begins her study of the lives of our founders and the history of the congregation.
As a Novice, she makes her "Oblation" (total gift of self to the Lord) and studies the history of the vows and our Constitutions in preparation for the profession of First Vows.
With First Vows, the Junior Professed enters more fully into the life of the community and prepares for full profession.
Five Year Vows are made when the sister has shown that she is capable of living her commitment freely and totally for the rest of her life. At this point she is a fully professed Daughter of the Heart of Mary.
A Sister may discern a call to request Perpetual Vows if she is suitably free to place herself at the disposition of the Superior General for the service of the Society and of its universal mission.
